BIZ-book love: BIG MAGIC

BIZ-book love: BIG MAGIC

Back in art-school I struggled a lot with the opinions of my teachers about what making art and creative living is supposed to be like.

For me creating art and experiencing art was positive, it had/has nothing to do with living in pain and punishing myself. I was striving to create beauty, but I felt as if my work could only be good if I was addressing a big topic that is important to all mankind. write about your creative work!

Back in art school I had a habit. Every night I took out a little journal and wrote down the thoughts I had about my art.

Things I wanted to try out, stuff I wanted to research, techniques I wanted to learn and thoughts about the artworks. Back then I didn't know how important this routine was for the growth of my art.

So I stopped doing this after I had my little boy. There was no time at night to do this and other tasks where piling up, so I made sure to at least work in the studio for a while every day.

I'm constantly met with roadblocks to my art career (mostly in the form of other opportunities, sometimes in the form of rejection) and ask myself this question so, so often.
